{"id":95916,"date":"2022-06-08T09:07:19","date_gmt":"2022-06-08T09:07:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.intersos.org\/syria-how-we-help-vulnerable-people-who-cannot-access-basic-services\/"},"modified":"2022-06-08T09:07:19","modified_gmt":"2022-06-08T09:07:19","slug":"syria-how-we-help-vulnerable-people-who-cannot-access-basic-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peaceful-shtern.46-37-26-27.plesk.page\/en\/syria-how-we-help-vulnerable-people-who-cannot-access-basic-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Syria, how we help vulnerable people who cannot access basic services"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Together with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), through a static and mobile approach, INTERSOS is outreaching hard to reach and rural areas<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Since the middle of 2021, INTERSOS has been implementing protection interventions in <a href=\"\/?p=17115\">Syria<\/a>, specifically in the Governorates of Hama, Rural Damascus, and Southern Idleb, thanks to the fund of the Italian Agency for Cooperation<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aics.gov.it\/language\/en\/\">\u00a0(AICS)<\/a>. INTERSOS is operating in partnership with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (<a href=\"https:\/\/sarc.sy\/about-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SARC<\/a>). Through a <strong>static and mobile approach<\/strong>, and opening <strong>three protection centres<\/strong>, INTERSOS is <strong>outreaching hard to reach and rural areas<\/strong> lacking the most basic services.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In February a <em>winterization<\/em> intervention has been carried out in Southern Idleb reaching <strong>300 vulnerable households<\/strong> and around <strong>1,500 individuals<\/strong>. <strong>300 winter kits were distributed<\/strong> on 13, 14, 15, and 20 February in the areas of Jarjanaz, and temporary housing for IDPs in Khan Sheikhoun and Um Jalal (southern Idleb).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>The story of Ahmad<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In this context, we met <strong>Ahmad<\/strong>, a 45-years-old man, father of three, with hearing impairment and speech problems. Together with his family, he fled his hometown in 2014 after armed<strong> clashes escalated<\/strong> in the Idleb governorate and, in early 2021, returned to his hometown of Jarjanaz to find his <strong>home severely damaged.<\/strong> <em>\u201cMy situation is very hard\u201d<\/em>, Ahmad says using sign language,<em> \u201cthere are few job opportunities for me, and I must work hard to buy at least some<strong> clothes for my children during this cold weather<\/strong>\u201d<\/em>. Ahmad has two boys, aged 18 and 15 respectively, and a 10-years-old girl. The older boy, Ali, <strong>dropped out of school to help the family<\/strong> earn a living. We met with Ahmad&#8217;s family during the distribution of <strong>winter essentials kits<\/strong> in the town of Jerjanz, where he benefited from the distribution, which enabled winter clothes to be distributed to 300 returnee families in the southern rural areas of Idleb.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Under the same action, INTERSOS is in the final stages to <strong>activate four mobile medical teams<\/strong> which will be deployed across Hama, Rural Damascus, and Idleb integrating the protection intervention while <strong>providing life-saving primary health care services<\/strong>. Furthermore,<strong> recreational activities<\/strong> were conducted within some schools in the Matalleh and Kisweh areas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During the <strong>recreational activities addressed to women in the Mattaleh community<\/strong>, awareness-raising sessions on topics such as stress management, child violence, and early marriage were conducted. The activities promoted and encouraged <strong>active participation and sharing<\/strong> of difficult experiences for them. On <a href=\"\/?p=16396\">International Women&#8217;s Day<\/a> and Mother\u2019s Day celebrations, the INTERSOS team asked them to write a letter of thanks to themselves, including messages of
