{"id":95985,"date":"2022-12-02T08:00:15","date_gmt":"2022-12-02T08:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.intersos.org\/covid-19-vaccine-hesitancy-data-from-our-projects\/"},"modified":"2022-12-02T08:00:15","modified_gmt":"2022-12-02T08:00:15","slug":"covid-19-vaccine-hesitancy-data-from-our-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peaceful-shtern.46-37-26-27.plesk.page\/en\/covid-19-vaccine-hesitancy-data-from-our-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"Covid-19, Vaccine Hesitancy: data from our projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The report &#8220;Vaccine Hesitancy Survey&#8221; highlights the successes, the main resistances to vaccination and the importance of correct information<\/h2>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>INTERSOS carried out a <em>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/peaceful-shtern.46-37-26-27.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/The-Vaccine-Hesitancy-Survey-VHS_3_web-1.pdf\">Vaccine Hesitancy Survey<\/a>&#8220;<\/em> by <strong>interviewing over 5,000 people<\/strong> assisted by the organisation in eight different countries (Burkina Faso, Yemen, Lebanon, Jordan, Nigeria, Afghanistan, Chad, and the Central African Republic) where the organisation, together with other NGOs, is working on the <a href=\"\/?p=14380\"><strong>COVAX<\/strong><\/a> <strong>vaccination campaign against <a href=\"\/?p=17929\">Covid-19<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The data shows that <strong>only 51% of the interviewees have been vaccinated<\/strong> while just under half have not (a figure that is in any case much higher than the average of the reference countries, indicating that the vaccination campaign was in any case an available and accessible option). What determines the resistance &#8211; or &#8220;hesitation&#8221; &#8211; in the face of the possibility of getting vaccinated? As also happened in the rest of the world, some of the interviewees do not trust the &#8220;safety&#8221; of the vaccine, but <strong>the majority of the 2,600 people surveyed<\/strong> who were still &#8216;uncovered&#8217; against the virus, explain that <strong>they have not been able to do it<\/strong>. In short, <strong>they would do it if the vaccine were immediately available<\/strong>. An answer that apparently may seem obvious, but, thinking back to the countries in which INTERSOS works, it shows how the desire to get vaccinated exists, but what is missing are the means to obtain vaccination or the proper information to access them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The VHS report also reveals how both those who have chosen to get immunised and those who are not yet but would like to do so, <strong>have obtained the necessary information on the COVID-19 vaccine from \u201clocal and international\u201d NGOs.<\/strong> <em>\u201cAnd this is precisely the point<\/em> &#8211; underlines Andrea Accardi, head of the Intersos COVAX Task Force &#8211; <em>we must focus on how to increase information sharing, how to make it more accessible for the people we assist. The more people are informed, the easier it is for them to make an informed choice&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read <a
